With sales like these, it’s a cinch to attain a reputable, well-made designer bag without a second thought. An editorial darling, Hayden Harnett, designs with a modern sensibility of which the tailor meets the gypsy, i.e., the slightly bohemian lady. Oxymoron, perhaps, but it’s our reality. In a fast-paced work atmosphere complicated by time management issues in the form of profuse communiques arriving via email, faxes, pages, and the old-fashion phone, who would want to continue looking prim and proper after work? Spinning 180 degrees would be my reaction, as if to literally let my hair down. HH, somehow, is able to straddle the two worlds and still look comfortable, and to top that off, the bags are supremely functional. Admirable for a boutique brand, but basically, this feat of grace is a telling sign of the fecund ingenuity that belongs to Toni Hacker. I am thinking of purchasing the Louvre as a resort bag, but then I also think the Valentine should be immediately garnered as an elegant yet sprightly touch for an evening out. Oh, heck, at these prices, I’ll get them both.
