Two great prints of Liberty’s past, the Ianthe and the Hera have been heralded back to capture the brand’s belle epoque days through its creative line, Liberty of London. Ianthe, circa 1900, is grounded firmly in the art nouveau with interlacing swirls of stylized flora and fauna. Hera, a design created in 1876, is the suffusion of peacock feather bordering on ecstatic entanglement. Creative Director Tamara Salman, a textile designer previously of Romeo Gigli and Prada, clearly showcases her acumen for the graphic lore. Simultaneously profuse and edited, and bohemian and classic, her trained eye captures old and new history of Liberty succinctly.
