Saturday night. There’s a cool little bistro in town. Reservations not needed. Menu consists of seasonal game and vegetables, plus freshly made desserts like vanilla ice cream laced with lavender buds. It’s casual with an haute edge. Apropos of this occasion would be a day dress re-wired with shiny metal. That would be gold in this case. Forget the filigreed Victorian stuff. Instead, go for solid bold pieces and celebrate the hardware. Play up the simple lines of the shift dress with an unfussy coat.
