I’ll be lamenting soon, because these Art Deco-inspired jewels will be sold out by December. I won’t even have a chance to pretend to buy, and that will be a very gray day. All of the items in this collection run on the smallish side, thus classifying them as lady purses. But, they are far from being dainty. The smaller dimensions actually seem to accentuate the bold flavor typical of Marc Jacobs’ designs. That clasp is big enough to be a belt buckle, and obviously, it is the focal point. The rest of each bag is treated to provide visual balance. Mannish details placed near or on the handle, i.e., the raised studs and the substantial O-rings, encourage the eye to wander about rather than fixate on the intricately wrought centerpiece. The sewn and pleated vertical lines provide overall dimension to decentralize the weight of the main sculptural piece. Suffused with the Edwardian allure, they will be well-regarded at any occasion.
