While I have always believed that Botkier is a functional-driven line, I am now in the mindset that they are also good looking, as in sexy looking. Perhaps it’s because they appear conventional but altered. Some of them are highly reminiscent of saddle or cargo bags that one harnesses on bikes with strappings and buckles de rigueur. Even in the new Rose line, the established satchel is skewed from formality by a prevalent gothic slant. The most widely photographed attestation would be Angelina Jolie, who toughens her omnipresent urban-chic ensembles with one of her many Botkiers. But, there’s a huge list: Gwyneth Paltrow, Heidi Klum, Cameron Diaz, and Penelope Cruz are just a few. When the casual wear comes out, so does the Botkier. I am currently enamored with the Sasha Duffle, because in addition to the sexy functionality, the dual use handles that I love make the handbag au courant.
