There you are, hovering shoulder to shoulder with your fellow travel mates and craning to find your luggage. They all look the same. Black. Nylon or a variation thereof. Rolling casters. Some of us tie scarves or old Christmas ribbons on them to help differentiate but it’s really not a solution, at least not an aesthetically pleasing one. Hideo Wakamatsu has been around for a while but mostly popular in Japan. Now that he’s open a U.S. based shop on the Mission in San Francisco, we may be lucky to see more of his wonderfully fresh take of the suitcase on our flights. Maybe we’ll even own one. The Easel Trolley is easily customized to your liking since a transparent window frame on the front provides you the opportunity to replace with your own graphics. There’s no pressure to modify it though, as the cropped images of Hokusai’s Mount Fuji or Big Wave impressively stand out. Most of his luggage have a hard exterior shell, but cleverly, he has kept the carry-ons pliable, so they can be maneuvered into tight spaces.
