It’s late on Sunday morning. Coffee made, shower taken and teeth squeaky clean. It’s windy outside. It was over 100 degrees Farenheit the week before and almost overnight, the temps dropped to below 70. I’ve got almost an hour before meeting up with some pals for brunch. Maybe we’ll hit the local farmers market afterwards or I’ll just go my separate way to some flea market. Oh, man, what to wear? My dilemma is that I’m a mood dresser. While some people have uniforms that can go from one day to next, making that look a signature calling card, I dress for what I feel like that morning, what I anticipate to happen through the day, and most importantly, how I want to feel throughout the day. If I’m in a pissy mood or bloated, that’s when I try to dress up very formally, as if to reign in any bad vibes that might striketh me. Today, I’m in a good mood because I’ve been good at dieting and doing my Power Yoga. Obviously, I’ll be wanting more of a free-form, happy look. Plus, it’ll let me eat without worrying about pinching waistlines. Being respectful to my gal pals, I won’t want to show up in my jeans and t-shirt. It is actually a special occasion, because most of my cohorts also have very little play time and to whittle one afternoon off is, basically, a luxury. I think this outfit hits all the right mood markers. The Tory Burch hardware ladened “cardigan” keeps this informal outfit from being too beanbag comfortable, so one can show off some stylish items such as that lava-esque choker with bezeled diamonds by Jamie Joseph, a man-bag by Gucci, and the plummy reticulated belt by Miu Miu.
