All those delicately painted figurines and hand cut glassware, sentinels of the past in grandma’s house, sitting discretely and benignly collecting dust, have moved on. They are now playing house in your wardrobe closet and your jewelry box. Quietly, in recent times, some of the top purveyors of fine porcelain and crystal have re-cast old findings to compete with today’s current obsessions, which we all know as this blog is dedicated to it. In the past, our taste was found in our curios in what we chose to collect and exhibit. That is quite different today. Metaphoric of the wireless age, mobile phones, audio and visual players, and perhaps even in the ease which one can appear in California one day and London the next, we choose to travel with our collection on us by wearing it.
