Vivienne Westwood is being democratized. It is official now, the U.S. can purchase her collection and accessories directly through her revamped website. While I don’t have the guts and fortitude to wear most of her collection, I admire her ‘nay’ to the trends. Her style still retains the outrageous vibe from her start in the business, when she drove and spread the stylistic influences of British and New York punk. Her prodigious reputation as an archetypal brand has been toned down by images of the jet-set and established rockers wearing her wares. Yet, because she is who she is, still shines, especially in this current sea of tailored, subdued garb. Wouldn’t it be fun, even a little subversive, to pull out a stodgy tartan wallet with an overlace of street calligraphy? I thought about it, especially when doing the mundane like grocery shopping.
