My heart is set aflutter, as I think another great boutique brand has been uncovered. Abaco, a company whose humble beginnings was inspired by a well-loved leather belt, has expanded to handbags, which for that I find most fortunate. Fashioned out of lamb or calfskin, these bags must feel as soft as they look. Inevitably, these will become more beautiful with time tempered by continual touching. What is most remarkable about Abaco’s current crop is the ease in which they straddle being au courant and timeless. There is an edge that gives heed to rebel per Marlon Brando in “The Wild Ones”, and yet complete surrender to of-the-moment is obligingly held back by the tried and true shapes, tasteful editing in hardware, and again the softest material. Ohhh, I think I could use that Jurassic Tote as a pillow.
